More wildflowers. This is the wild Field Asphodel, photographed growing wild in Portugal. It is perhaps the commonest wild flower of all around the Mediterranean, yet for all that it is common it is still lovely. Does anyone grow it as a garden flower, it should be moderately hardy, though the flower colour is soft and modest not in your face ? One and two are close ups of the flowers, number having very stripped petals, three is a typical scene, and four is growing with wild lavender.
Such an attractive plant and lovely blossom, with all that detail!
The overall effect is soft and modest, which is no bad thing, but close up they are very impressive.
Spectacular! I've been going for brief walks, between the rains, for the last few days. There are a lot of, what my mom called, wild violets on the yards and ditch banks.
In my mind I've been spending time planting my neighbors bare yard into a mass of blackberry and blueberry bushes.
And trying to determine exactly what kind of invasive tree is growing all over her yard and any adjoining property it can seed on.
It's a beautiful flower. I wonder if it would grow here in clay soil Texas???
I think it likes a free draining soil but the Texas climate should be no problem, and it is not hard to build a raised bed.
It's a pretty flower with lots of buds yet to open. It must be in bloom a long time. I'm wondering if the leaves are the dark green strap like leaves in the third photo. If so, the plant appears to resemble a Yucca as Cast1es said.
Yes those are the leaves, although I do not think they are related to Yuccas. The leases are soft and spineless.
