My new crop of 'Wood Violets'. A couple plants appeared in my yard a few years back, and I thought they were so sweet - until they quickly took over huge areas! Fortunately, they are easily plucked and tend not to return. I keep this bank on a little rocked slope pretty much in check:

Looks nice... I like purple

They are too small to harm other plants, so I generally let them have their way in the garden too.

Do you have a close up of the flowers? I have a couple areas I like to have a ground cover like that, but the plants would need to be able to endure our hot summer temperatures.

They certainly do cover, though most of my yard is shaded for at least half the day. Some that popped up in sunny areas did not fare so well. I'll get a close-up tomorrow, perhaps there are variations?

@tinkercreek - Thank-you

They are an understory plant, native to woods and thrive in forest litter. They will do ok as potted plants in indirtect sunlight and shaded areas. They do much better in the pine forests of East Texas than they do in the plains areas.

@glennlab - Thanks

@RussRAB Here you are, with the array of lavender, pink and white blossoms!
