This is from Travis's garden. Travis and Maria live in Australia. They both sing and play music. Travis has the garden Maria tells me. I know my pictures are beautiful. This is a Bat plant. I think it is an orchid. Travis has no trouble growing his, but I've heard they can be difficult. They do not like a temperature under 40 degrees. The white bloom comes in purple. I think I have a purple too. They really look like a bat!, but they are so very beautiful!

Not an orchid. it is an anthurium.

I found a document I saved on this intriguing plant. I am adding if anyone wants more information.

Tacca (Bat Plant, Bat Flower)
Tacca, the commonly called Bat plant or Bat Flower, is one of the coolest and most extraordinary plants you’ll find. Bat plants are grown mainly for their flowers which feature unique and unusually exotic looking blooms that mimic a bat in flight, with ruffled wings and long, hanging like-whiskers filaments that that hang from 10-28 inches long. These exotic plants come in white, green or dark purple varieties. Large, lush, emerald green tropical foliage surrounds the flowers that bloom in spring and last until early fall.

Mature plants typically begin to flower after they've produced at least a pair of full-sized leaves, producing up to eight flowers over the course of a single season. The flowers should be left on the plants as they do not survive in a vase for long. Growing bat flowers requires a littTacca Integrifolia - White Bat Plant

The Bat Flower (Tacca) is a member of the Amyrillis Family, not an orchid. It takes similar care as Spathiphyllum. Shade, loam and humidity.
The purple form I know as Tacca chantierii

I knew I could count on someone. On an internet site, they were calling it an orchid. Some said a bromeliad, but while I love bromeliads very much, it did not look like one. Thanks for the help.

Stunning! Respect to Travis.

I have heard they can be raised indoors with the necessary care.

2

@BettyColeman 8 above freezing. Still cold but doable in green house or indoors.
