Something me and my mom dreamed of and manifested into reality!
Two raised beds! (8 foot by 4 foot) and I believe... 2 feet deep but I forget the exact measurement..
No fucking flowers either! We are growing food for us... There are so many more pictures but there is only a 5 picture limit.. All the plants are flourishing... these were taken when we first transplanted.
We also planted an avocado sapling Super Excited!!
Very cool, good job on the raised beds! What kind of wood did you use?
I have started several avocados indoors. I had a 4 foot tall tree for a while. The trouble is, I live in Nebraska and I can't keep it outside. Where I live now has very little natural light indoors, so I gave up on the avocado trees, under duress. Flowers are good for gardens. Read about companion planting. Marigolds are good for tomatoes. And some flowers are edible or have medicinal properties.
You are so right, and I apologize to flowers for cursing at them, I was just trying to convey that we were doing this for more practical purposes rather than having something nice to look at. I would like to incorporate a few flowers here and there though. Thank you for your input
@M3G4N666 My pleasure, truly. Glad to have helped.
Congratulations! Your raised bed look wonderful. and it looks like you resisted the temptation n to stuff too many plantlets together.
I am trying straw bale raised beds this year. All he ingredients are here, but not put together Weather is stilll too iffy, snow showers agan today.
Yeah the weather has been pretty screwy
Oh, it's fab! a thing of beauty! Can't wait to see results!
Post more pics in the comments,
I would like to go to my mom's and I will make another post with updated pics. We planted 2 weeks ago; Garlic (4), red potatoes(6), purple potatoes(4), asparagus(2), red/purple onions(4), rainbow carrots(5), peas(3), spinach(4), butter lettuce(1), acorn squash(1), cucumber (1)
That is just one box. and the potatoes already starting sprouting!
The other box has two tomato plants, two red bell pepper plants, lavender, sage, thyme, oregano, green chives, two cilantro plants...
we aren't done yet
that is great!
You obviously don't have a problem with lack of water. I bought at garage sales a few 10 meter lengths of 3" drainage black plastic hose intending to use it as water reservoirs in the bottom of boxes made from plastic lined pallets. Never got round to making the boxes up and getting the necessary soil in.
Beautiful! I use 4x8 beds and they're about 2 feet deep! Very nice. Keep building more. You'll love it?
Well, we are pretty broke right now, but we definitely have more plans in the future! I love gardening!
@M3G4N666 Me too. Being broke stimulates your creativity and problem solving skills. My bet is that you build several more raised beds by late August/ early September. You'll be ready for a winter crop!!???
Beautiful!
Thank you!! <3
@PappyOnWings I did not. My friend has done that, where she stuck a few toothpicks in the side and let it sit above water in a cup... My mom went out and got a sapling.. She surprised me with it. I did recently start growing Peas, Rainbow Carrots and Spinach from seed
@PappyOnWings That was almost two weeks ago though, they have all sprouted by now
