What I did today instead of waisting my time in church lol. Dug up some banana pups Potted 5 of them and planted one in the ground. Planted a bunch of Amy’s sunflowers and some of my Mexican sunflowers. Put amy’s Maringa tree and a tire to grow. And also put my sweet basil in a tire too. And last but not least discovered my dinner plate hibiscus is still alive and shooting up. Not sure if it is coming from the roots Or is a volunteer from one of the seed it dropped.
Your mint looks healthy also. I keep killing mine by not watering! Had six different varieties once now just common variety.
We have ours in pots so we water almost every day unless it rains
@Donto101 So do I but don't always water. Mine would probably do better in the ground but there are strange rules for leased properties and insecurity of tenure does not help.
@FrayedBear if you put them in the ground they will take over everything. They spread like weeds
@Donto101 In 45°C heat of January and February they tend to crinkle and die particularly with my lackadaisical approach to watering. ?
OK, I give! What is a "banana pup"? Is that just what you call little banana plants or is it a term specific to a certain species or phase of a plant? I saw it used one other time and wondered so might as well ask.
Banana pups are just small banana plants that shoot off the roots of the mother plant. You also have daughter plants. That a pup that you let grow up next to the main plant. Because once a banana fruits it’s done and you cut it down and much it around the daughter plant. That then becomes the mother plant.
@Donto101 Cool! I didn't know any of that. I just kind of visualized bananas as growing on a big tree, kind of like coconuts, (you know, tropical like) making bananas every year until they got old and died.
We don't grow anything like that around here. If my kale survives the winter, it was a mild one.
