The last winter was so weird! Who can make an actual case that we are not experiencing climate change?
Anyway, my kale wintered over this year. Didn't shelter it or cover it through the winter, just left the stalks in the garden after the leaves finally froze. Several weeks ago, started showing on them and they are now going strong. I did cover most of them when we had a 14° night since they were leafed out then. The one plant I didn't cover lost all it's leaves but it is now coming back from the root. Of the 6-7 years I've grown kale this is only the second when plants wintered over.
This is my kale presently, with the garlic behind it.

It was the opposite for us we had the worst freezes in year this past winter. Climate change can cause some strange weather patterns.

That happened to me several years ago, I noticed that my tomatoes began overwintering. That reflects a huge change in the climate. Backyard gardeners know what's going on!
