Right now it seems too expensive and time consuming for me too try. Maybe tracking your progress will change my mind!

With hydroponics you have equipment like water pumps and air pumps that must function 24x7, which puts certain demands on the gardener. You can do small experiments without a water pump and using an aquarium air pump, but if you want to grow very much, you need better equipment. Keep it as simple as you can.
I've heard that air prune pots grow things as fast, I'm going to look into it.
