One way I use garden/landscaping stuff is to try saving the wood (wood here meaning any woody plant branch, trunk, root, or vine). I then cure it and attempt to turn something that my wife and I will use. This helps us remember those interesting plants we've met. These pens, multi-tool and fob were turned from a trumpet vine "trunk".
Impressive! Especially the pens.
Thanks!
Wow. I would not have expected trumpet vine to be so sturdy.
I try to do this too, although I get quickly overwhelmed by wood. I make cooking fires, and save the ashes. The charcoal is useful for blacksmithing, and the salts have some interesting uses.
I was shocked at the toughness. Almost like Osage-Orange. I did cure it for a year before cutting & turning it.
@bigpawbullets wow, really? I wonder I could make short bow from it.
@StilInterested That's beautiful walking stick, and apparently sturdy, too.
Wow! Those are amazing!
Thanks mike.
Turning pens and pen sized stuff is really very simple.
@bigpawbullets Simpler than the planting the correct number of basil seeds? ?
@MikeEC
Ouch.
Wow! Those are nice. You did an awesome job!?
My wife says my shop keeps me out of the bars.
Thank you for the kind words.
@bigpawbullets Whatever works, right?!?
