Which pet names have you been called in relationships that you liked, and which did you dislike? Likewise, which pet names do you enjoy calling your partner(s)? If none, how do you refer to them, by their name?
Do you have affectionate verbal routines that you go through with your partners? Here are some examples from my life:
I nudge her. She says "Stop pushing me!" I say "I will push you!"
I ask out of the blue "No, baby?" And she responds with a convincing "Yes, baby!" This can go the other way around as well (sometimes she asks).
Or one of us would ask out of the blue:
Another example is Seinfeld arguing with his girl over who's Shmoopie, to the dismay of George.
We are really cheesy. We say things like "Babe?" and then we'll respond with "my glove?". We say "Sorbet", "I lovid ju", "I missid ju".
She's wifey or wifey-poo and I'm hubby or hubby-kins and yes, you need insulin to be around us.
Sweet, sweetie, honey, darlin’ , sexy, hotness, devil woman, baby girl, babe, baby, shug (short for sugar), cotton(frizzy perm, lol), strawberry(hair color), cowgirl.
I’ve used sweetie, honey, doll baby, cowboy, babe, baby, darlin’.
I like pet names, generally. But if I hear ‘dear’...alarm bells go off, lol.
Couple of years ago had a lady friend call me her boy toy. She was apologetic, I was thrilled.
Nobody has called me by a pet name.
@Radu they've always just used my name. It has never occurred to me to call a girlfriend anything than her name. Why would I make up a name for her? Wouldn't that be disrespectful?
@FlippantLlama I probably would have picked up on that practice if I'd ever experienced it.
Just talking about pet names or nicknames...
FOR HIM
FOR HER
We all make mistakes and even being in a loving, committed relationship doesn't change that fact. Two of our (critical) names were "Silly Goose" and "Goofball" but expressed with sympathy and understanding.
Only one, with my very young China gf...would call her "babygirl" or chaochao(her baby name)...she liked.
