Anyone also incorporating IF (Intermittent Fasting)?
I stop eating at about 7 and don't eat until lunch the next day except for bulletproof coffee...so yeah, 16-20 hours.
I eat Dr. Gundry style, and IF is on his modified food pyramid ?
Yes. The older we get, the more sluggish our metabolism is. As a result, I’ve discovered that far less food is by far the best adjustment to aging that I can make.
I remember both grandmothers cutting meals as they got older—and now, I know why.
Breaking down food is also SO tiring. It’s another reason we feel more fatigued.
M - F, I eat one meal mid morning. I get home around 10pm from work. I’m starving, but I either power through with green tea or water, or have yogurt with blueberries.
I do, but not really by choice. I just get nervous and it makes it hard 2 eat or keep food down sometimes. I lost 30lbs in the last 3 months or so tho, so kinda yay me!
Hope you are better! X
I accidentally got into this......just wanting an empty stomach for a favorite yoga class on Saturday afternoon.....found myself going from Friday evening until late afternoon or dinner time on Saturday....realized that I felt GREAT and that I did not experience hunger. That was a few years ago....and now, come to find out, it's a thing. ? It really is not difficult to do, especially if it's on a day that you are not going to work/expected to do much.
I have just because I occasionally have had periods of no hunger.
But now that it is a faddish thing?
As long as you get enough fluids it is not dangerous.
I'm interested in this. Does skipping the evening meal work?
@evestrat tried it a few times, have to eat a big breakfast or am weak by noon.
Skipping an evening meal works well for many. My meal is usually midday, not eating till some time the next day about the same time. Every now and then, I may eat at 10 or 11 am and then a little something around 3 or 4. But usually one meal a day.
yes I have, nothing fancy, I just starve myself sometimes, at times it is part of 'cleansing' my system of certain foods and liquids.
I find it not only helps with weight loss, but with my cravings, as well. Although, to be honest, I don't get cravings like I used to.. not for unhealthy stuff, for sure.
I do want to eat when not physically hungry - but so rarely these days. I have (better) learned, through a Keto woe, that a lot of my so-called hunger is emotional/psychological.
Works for me!!
@YamaBlonde ah cravings for the unhealthy....the hardest of disciplines to master, especially after I smoked a big fatty.
I haven't tried it but I feel it is a great solution, especially for people like me that hold on to every stinking calorie. I'm waiting for my life to return to normal after I get my dentures in. I've already had the extractions and I'm stuck on soft foods and wouldn't you know it, most the soft foods are very high in carbs. First set of dentures was a flop and I'm waiting to begin again with a dentist that actually knows how to make them.
While I have not had dentures, I HAVE had quite a bit of dental work over the years. Good thing I love scrambled eggs!! Can you do (bone) broth and squishy veg?
Any food can be made "soft", meat, veggies, fruit....any thing, not just high carb foods.
@Agr8m8 Not a steak! I miss them. And I make my own broths from scratch.
