Actually there’s quite a bit of truth in that phrase… Many people who are not particularly religious will suddenly become religious when their life is threatened… They’re scared and have no place else to turn... It doesn’t change the reality of God being fiction but the statement holds truth for many. Christians may use that to support their belief in God but it is truly nothing more than a fear of death. Simply put, if you put a gun to my head I might find god, if you pull the trigger I might not.
Perfect. Also, when people use that argument, I always think, man you are making the case for us. It just further proves people believe in God out of emotions, this one uses fear, rather than reason and proof. Our emotions have nothing to do with what is true.
