@Rudy1962 Sad thing is I didn't realize how bad the smell was until I got back from house sitting (cats weren't at my house at the time). When I got back it was terrible! I had a boss ask me if I had any cats. I said 4. That smell sticks to your clothes, and sometime next week I'm just going to start tearing out the rest of the carpet. I don't think a rug doctor will do anything to help.

@TheGreatShadow I'm getting a new house. Not putting carpet upstairs and not allowing cats in the finished basement...so my son who has a slight allergy can escape to the basement if need be.. The flooring upstairs is suppose ti be waterproof...

@Rudy1962 I'm planning on selling my house soon as well. No one will buy it with cat smell all over. I got an offer, but for about a third of what I paid for it 5 years ago. I obviously declined. Plus that ugly ass shag green carpet I wanted gone since day one...About half my house is hard wood floors. I'm debating on if I should put carpet back in, put on veneer that looks like actual wood to match the rest, or go cheap and get linolioum. Then again the cheap option wouldn't look good in the dining room, or in a bedroom. Plus when I ripped the carpet out of two rooms where there was hard wood under, I noticed it got much colder in the winter.

@Rudy1962 Yeah plus the market in a village of 600 people isn't very good. Surprisingly lots of houses have been sold in the last couple years. The house to the north of mine is on it's 3rd owner since I bought my house. One to the left of that was sold, and the one to my right was sold.

I think people that buy houses here want to get away from a big city. Then then figure out there ain't shit here, and move.
