Elon Musk makes a point of how limited our temperature tolerance range is.
He said (in this video, about 3 minutes in) "5º above the world average, and New York will be under water. 5º below, and New York is covered with a mile of ice and snow. On the Centigrade scale, this is a very small change.

I'll take Fahrenheit any day. Can ride a snowmobile at 0 and it was 108, by my car's outside thermostat yesterday, and I have survived both with a smile on my face.
