Bigotry is the issue here with these cake makers who refuse to make a cake for LGBT people. To try and excuse their behavior using their "conscience " due to their belief in myths allows them to force others to accept their bigotry. If they base their lives on lies and myths, (religion) they deserve no respect, and should be shamed for hurting people who choose to love who they love. Love is love, let's remind these bigots of that.
The cake makers have a conscience issue with dealing with homosexuality as if it were OK in their eyes. I think some gay people who have the chance to order from a baker who has no problem with it would rather try to force a Christian baker to go against their beliefs. This attitude is counter-productive for gay liberation because people can see the victims have now become the bullies.
Totally concur; but it's often not the fault of the gay wedding planners nor the Christian bakers.
This issue with the Christian bakers (I think it only was one) who refused to bake a cake for a gay wedding was blown way out of proportions by the media.
Huffpost did an article on this issue;
I think you're wrong in the first premise. I believe most gay couples who want a wedding cake will go to the baker with the best reputation and publicity. If the bakery would just print a statement in its advertising or in the window that states they are bigoted assholes and have a right to refuse to serve queers then the whole issue would be up front and the loving couple could find a normal baker.
@SiouxcitySue I think most would go for the best baker. Some go to the Christian baker and not particularly because he or she is the best. I think advertising their Christian stance might draw more of the wrong sort.
Woohoo! That's a good one... But you risk getting no cake
