Carrying on from @walklightly's habit of welcoming new chums this is my first opportunity to introduce myself as well. I have been cast into the role of host of this group. For those of you who have not previously encountered me I have an extensive profile available to read, unless you are one of the handful who have really pissed me off and been blocked! To everyone else hello and please note that my message box is sometimes slow but open - actually I prefer talking on the phone.
Can I also please request that everytime a new chum is welcomed to the group we all give the post an emoji reaction if not a grunt of "g'day" reply? It benefits you, the new chum and the group. Thanks.
Welcome to new chums @iwantuaswell69, @PontifexMarximus. Please come in and tell us what powers your scepticism.
Hey there FB. I am pleased to see you have lost none of that passion.
What happened to Triphid? I hope he is still with us. I'm grappling with Dame Edna's demise today.
Hi MsD, long time no converse. Barry died did he? He had a good run & will be well remembered by a few delighted at his contributions to Aussie culture.
Triffid has either gone walkabout, committed to the local lock up or asylum, though he may have died. He still had huge problems from his industrial accident when he saved his mates life on the railways. I'm frequently tempted to ring up Broken Hill police to enquire but never have a spare round tuit to get it done! This was one of the groups that was stolen from me after 2 wokes complained & I was thrown off by the program. Triffid inherited it & I let him keep it. It's unfortunately not a rule that that abscence for 3 months means that the coordinator mantle passes to someone else. I always found it sad that the German girl, Walklihhtly just took off & ceased to belong no matter where in the world she ended up.
Have you had @vocaloldfart share his link to his chatboard for Aussie Atheists. In fact Kurt please post it hear & on all of my groups listed below so that we can all keep in contact if the doomsayers prognostications of the demise of this site on 2nd June does actually happen.
We've had a good run here over the years sharing many interesting pieces of information & experiences good, bad & downright ludicrous or distressing.
Hi all Newbie from Moura Qld. We are having a sale. 100,000,000 midgees and ten times that number of mosquitoes are on offer. Please someone come and get as many as you can as they are going cheap. Very cheap.
With all this rain they breed like crazy.
I wonder what is next for Australia?? we have had the worst drought in history, devastating fires, plagues, (locusts, mice, covid midgees mossies etc) and now horrific floods and now the prospect of cyclones along the Qd coast.
I am scared to ask WHAT NEXT???
Hi Kurt. Triphid seems to have gone walkabout so I'll respond to your plea. I determined nearly 50 years ago to never visit Queensland again. I broke my resolve about ten years later, briefly did, regretted it & never returned.
As for mosquitoes 15 years in Western Victorian dryness has seen few mozzies till this year's incredible humidity & rainfall. As you say these days the diseases bourne by mosquitoes grows daily. . . Perhaps they will make humans become extinct.
Welcome to the pack.
@FrayedBear I have similiar qualms about Victoria. 50 ago I was camping in the little desert and got stung on my groin/ scrotumn by a scorpion. I enjoyed the experience so much I swore that once was enough and I would never go there again. I haven't so far. Still too scared ! Although other parts of Victoria I have visited since like Melbourne( no scorpions) Dandenong/ springvale(no scorpions) and Moe( no scorpions)
@Kurtn for 18 months I lived on the fringe of the Little Dessert. One of my mates used to be a driver\guide through the dessert & so showed me some of it. Sadly we never saw scorpions & thankfully were never stung. My eyes water at the thought of your experience. Yours is the first scorpion warning that I've heard off.
You can't blame that on the people though. I totally blame the inhabitants of Queensland for their bad behaviour.
Welcome to @Artymikey another resident in the Silver City. Come in from the weather, join in the craic and when comfortable please tell us about yourself.
Welcome to @Corden a tall freethinker residing in Napier, New Zealand. Come in from the cold, join the craic and when comfortable please tell us about yourself.
Thank you for the welcome. Yep, I'm in New Zealand but originally from South Africa, been here three years now and it is heaven. The Kiwis seem quite relaxed about people being atheists so I thought I'd join you guys and have a chat.
@Corden Many leaving SA it seems. There are quite a few amongst my local medicos. Frequently do not see eye to eye but occasionally do get valuable information. There also seems to be a problem with their religiosity so I'm delighted to read of your lack of it.
Welcome to @Sanderson1. Sylvia is a free thinker residing up in Coffs Harbour NSW. Please come in and say hello.
Thanks for the welcome. This is very new to me. I’ve never navigated around a group like this, so lots of weird things are happening! All good fun. I’ve seen lots of interesting stuff and am spending far too much time on my computer just looking around. Thanks for the welcome. Any hints on what I can get up to while I am here?
@Sanderson1 please check your messages.
Welcome to @Wilderbright who resides in Armidale, NSW - a town that I last visited very many years ago but my favourite memory was of drinking mead for breakfast. The mead bought from a nearby meadery. I was drinking at 8 am. because it was so damned cold and in those days there were no drink driving laws.
Welcome to Robert aka @rathswohl from my old stomping ground of the NSW Central Coast just north of Sydney (for our foreign chums).
Welcome to @Dooley from the other end of Victoria to me.
Where about on the other end? I lived in Portland for a couple of years in about 1980.
@Dooley Wimmera
Welcome to @SawGibson another escapee from the city of churches, Adelaide.
Thanks mate
Welcome to @sydarthur7. That site name isn't a play on Hermann Hesse's novel is it?
Welcome to a dear friend @Noemi who lives in Romania.
Welcome to @LindaMay. Please enter and say "G'day". I see that you are in a stomping ground familiar to me 40 years ago.
Welcome to @wiwisijiji. Please come and explain your site name whilst I go and find where you hail from. Kansas and you are a drinking Muslim looking for a transman?
Welcome to @Doubting residing in Sanctuary Pt. NSW. Come in and say g'day.
I am sure that you will be able to have many interesting discussions with @irascible.

Alex, Illawarra, bloody foreigner. Married into religion and woo, trapped in Kiama with a religious extended family. Kids infected as well. Trying to talk softly about reason, mostly failing.
@ThinkPlot There is only one possible reply to that -"you poor bastard, she must have your manhood in vice like enthrallment". Having encountered some of those south coast god bothering nuts I suggest at least the acquisition of a fully operational and loaded Abrams tank to be used in response. @irascible over in Perth region may have some suggestions for your benefit.
Welcome to @BecB, @SpanishAtheist on xmess eve. Come in and please introduce yourself.
Welcome to Sydney resident @loudshirt. Please come in and introduce yourself.
Welcome to @ElizabethMcCue from Melbourne. Come in from the cold and say hello.
Welcome to @Tygrr. Please come and introduce yourself to your fellow members.
