Victorian Election.
Great to see both the Libs whacked, and the increase in the Greens vote in my neighbouring state of Victoria.
Given recent state and federal elections, is it just possible that Australians are finally realising in the majority that the Liberal Party is full of shit?
You know, I think something got broken with Australian 'conservatism' during the pandemic, and even now the Libs haven't got it. Time will tell.
a real shame the Democrats died after supporting the GST. Greens have too many twits to be a seriously viable 3rd party.
"Keep the Bastards honest"
PS Wish Dictator Dan didn't get his majority though, force him to consider alternative view points via a coalition.
The Libs are far too smug to question their own assumptions: their examination of their own policies fails to acknowledge the yawning and ever widening gap between those assumptions and the aspirations of today's Australians. The frankly hilarious emails that I receive with the subject line "Introducing The Conservative Party" with its throwback to the paternalism, racism, Catholic supremacism, homophobia and misogyny of the Menzies era, complete with dog whistles of "dogma over practicality", are appalling, and serve merely to underscore the blindness of the whole of the right wing to its own failings.
P.S. I see ScoMo's skulduggery as being another nail in the Lib's coffin.
And right wingers can't outgrowth either a blind faith in economic rationalism of the past 40 years, as well as a belief that culture wars and wedge politics -- used so effectively by Howard and later by Tony Abbott-- has had it day. The electorate mostly has moved on, from 'debt and deficit' and 'carbon tax' fear mongering, but Australian right wingers have not.
@anglophone & Albo seems happy to sweep ScoMo's malfeasance under the carpet. . . So what's he up to ?
Let alone the skuduggery of the old brigade of Richardson, Evans, Lavarche & Lawrence.
Good to hear and great that the greens got a solid swing towards them.
Scott Morrison's absurd stunt in Parliament with that lump of coal and his outright lies that went with it is finally coming home to roost.
