The best thing about this past April in Alabaster was the arrival of flocks of Cedar Waxwings to our property. These beautiful little birds just invaded our yard for several days. Here are a few snapshots. Hope you like 'em.

Duck surgery. This young Mallard is thought to have been injured by a snapping turtle. One of the vets I work with volunteered to remove the dead toe and clean up the necrotic tissue and the duck is doing great at a local rehab facility.

Immature red-tailed hawk that flew into the side of a young man's truck. He took the time to bring the bird to the vet clinic where we x-rayed it and evaluated it. No broken bones, no obvious injuries, just a very thin young hawk. It readily ate ...
