I'm remembering Sam for Memorial Day. He died over this last year. A memorable street-performance artist up here. He originally hailed from Tonga. Big spirited. Loved America.

Today is the 49th anniversary of the 1971 Sylmar earthquake. Don't know how many other people are still around who remember that, but it was one of the worst ones that California had in years.

So how far from the coast is one allowed to be living to be a left coaster. In terms of just North South I live out to sea from SF but for me to drive to the sea along the only road I'm looking at 350 kms (250 miles). Hardly coast. Or are we ...
