This 2016 article from Chris Hedges about Sanders' fake populism certainly held up well and is still relevant.

Speaking of Hedges, he was recently let go from Truthdig. Here's a recent interview with him, and his thoughts about our upcoming election:

Hedges writings find a number of sites. Plus he's on RT with a weekly show that updates each weekend with great discussions. He will find a home for his writing career if he doesn't create one.

@altschmerz all of them do. All that means is that their work is upsetting the establishment and those conditioned to the false narrative about RT.

I think it was silverotter who brought that site to my attention one day. It's been approximately 2 months, give or take some weeks. I'm curious as to what took you to him and why.

But after doing some research on this fact checking site I came to the same conclusion I do about all fact checking sites. It, like all, tend to have an agenda and owned by people, and or think tank group, with an agenda. A correlating aspect to all these sites is that for the large part they always put MSM that reciprocate their agenda at or close to the top in ratings. Rarely acknowledging that dissenting independent news sources are of value, almost always giving them low ratings or labeling them fake news.

I also had a site that I use from time to time which confronted Zandt, the owner and founder, and posted segments of that conversation they had with him in an article. I think it was News Guard, which is mysteriously unreachable now as I just went to find that article to do this reply. My reply to silverotter was via a reply to a post I made, so it would be to difficult for me to find now.

But in short. Zandt had or has no experience in weighing news to whether he could intellectually determine it was good or fake anymore than you and I. He admitted that in the written discussion within the article I posted to silverotter. He also outsourced the work to 2 or 3 other people in large part.

A good example of this is their outlook on Consortium News

I can find holes in much of this including at the end where they essentially contradict their own findings on many points. Especially ownership! Robert Parry was the founder and owner in which the site functioned on donations. On occasion Parry would go back to working for a very select one or two MSM's that he still had some favor in to make money to keep the site going at times. Until it became popular enough to function on its own and bring in more journalist and the VIPS group. You can find that claim in his memorial write up by his son on the right of any page on the site.

Labeling CN even as center left is ludicrous. The site has no bias towards empire building and has addressed each establishment party fairly equally as their time in power has occurred.

{The best way to describe Consortium News, is Wikileaks, without the leaks. They reject imperialism no matter what side is controlling it.} Is that not a contradiction? The partisan support base and readership has often fluctuated at CN due to its timing of coverage based on who was in power. Can I get a, tribal politics? Of course that is because when it comes to tribal partisan politics most people can't handle and will not except the truth when it goes against their god of choice.

Robert Parry spent a large part of his time investigating and leaking information on the Iran-Contra affair, Reagan, and Bush Sr. covering and speaking on that to his death. Not all evidence comes in the form of whistle blower data downloaded from computers to only be compared to Wikileaks. ! I find that to be simply a belittlement to all hard working independent journalist who put their lives and reputations on the line doing the footwork and research to inform us!

When I attempt to draw people to that memorial piece in CD to get a feel for Robert Parry, it's because that by Nat Parry addresses exactly every aspect of what I'm talking about now. It shows the dignity and honor he had in doing real journalism in which is quite rare today. In which no one with any sense can claim we get from our MSM today. [consortiumnews.com]

@altschmerz I always try to encourage people to read comments at the better sites. You get so many different views that can help build your own opinion. And sometimes they share links to other good articles.

Wow! That is quite the interview. It really is a terrifying world that Hedges paints. Yes I watched the entire thing.

@altschmerz I have known about him for maybe 20 years, maybe more. I have always been super impressed with his knowlege and views. He rivals Chomsky. And I do think that revolution is going to be the only way to effect change. And the government will have to be shamed into stop killing civilians. Tianamin (Sp?) Square standing in front of a tankin LA, SF, NY etc. Stuffing flowers into barrels. It has to be peaceful as they have all the force until the army sides with the people.
