The Senate Is America's Most Structurally Racist Institution
[readersupportednews.org]
Lets point something else out also. The size of the state and or population has no real relevance to representation. The people aren't being justly represented, the corporations within are vastly benefiting more so. That is across the board obviously though?
I'd even argue that in many cases that the smaller and or less populated states by ratio, that the corporations enjoy an overwhelming larger representation. Where the people are blissfully conditioned to rely on those corporations in many cases for jobs. In which in many cases for them to even consider a dissenting voice could bring economic havoc on their communities. Especially when it comes to military, energy, and fossil fuel aspects of the economy. In some cases tax havens.
{The American system already requires controlling three separately elected bodies — House, Senate, and president — to enact any new law. Why does the system need yet another obstacle to change?}
It already has that obstacle. Or use to in some regards. It's called the forth estate. But it works for the ruling class primarily now. It has become another part of a controlled systemic entity. And any aspect of it that still has an honorable commitment left in it is purposely being directed from the view of the people by the aspect of it that the ruling class own.
They arent alone. It's hard for me to think of any government institution that isn't racist. shit flows downhill.
@desertastronomer it was also about the protection of wealth and land. We didn't have the right to vote for our senators until 1913, they were seated by our state representatives up to then. By then the entire national government had been bought out by corporations and the banking system. They thought they had full control over everything until their greed created the depression. In which Roosevelt had to then persuade them to step back or face a revolution from the Socialist parties, unions, and workers.
@William_Mary yep, and we are in a similar position now, probably worse.
