I never looked at my view as dividing, though had plenty of evidence it did in my own social network. Teodore Fikre's work has resonated with me a few times as you have shared it before. I couldn't believe when Hilary called Trump supporter's deplorable. Since I thought she would win as much as I disliked her (and voted for her as the lesser of 2 evils) I was wondering how those Trump supporters would feel about her being their leader. They would have the "not my president" feeling. I have and might still view "white lives matter" as a marginalization of black men and boys being killed by officers at a higher rate with video evidence it was not warranted. But I do see the division is being stoked by the black and white labels as opposites with no hope of unity and oneness in the horizon. Thanks for sharing this. Really love the Ghion journal and bookmarked it when you shared it prior.

Not my president has still found a use, only by the other side. And lets not forget Hillary had choice words for all of us at one of her speeches to the oligarchs during that election cycle. I've only been following Fikre for about a year, but have found his work to be quite resonant. If only some of those within the oligarchs had also gone from the top to bottom as Fikre has, we might be looking at a completely different world.
Really interesting. Not sure I by the whole thing but definetly know about rural white poverty.

I am a social worker who works in a local social Service office. Luckily I go out in the field and meet people where they are. Many of the Social Workers always think the client lie, try to catch them in something. I told a peer I don't consider a lie in our office a lie, it is surviving. They want to get help. They also have that concept people are on public assistance so they don't have to work. I feel fortunate to be able to do my own thing and not be in the office every day.
