Why Is the Radical Right Still Winning?

[zcomm.org]

(Elsewhere in the world, the right has certainly mobilized resentment against neoliberal globalization.)

Yea, I'm not buying this narrative. Even here as NAFTA was made a big deal by Trump, his latest changes by most accounts had little changing effects. And some are saying it may end up being worse in the long run. The tariff deal is going to end up being a permanent manufactured means of an inflation hike. Both of these still benefiting only the corporations and worlds most wealthy. The only real resentment is coming from the people that are going to lose in both cases.

(Politically, the new right-wing populists are taking advantage of a widespread disgust for political elites. This disgust has been focused in particular on the corruption scandals that have engulfed so many countries. Because they’re focused on corruption, voters are willing to embrace candidates who are also members of the political elite and personally corrupt to boot — as long as these firebrands promise to “drain the swamp.&rdquo😉

I'm not even going to attempt to be nice about this. Pure total ignorance. We are talking about a clan that doesn't give a rats ass about you. Using you! And will take you out right along with the rest of us when they are done using you.

(The left is compromised on all three grounds. It remains committed to multiculturalism. Once in office, it has often proven just as corrupt (or, at least, status-quo-oriented) as any other political bloc. And left parties have pushed forward economic globalization as vigorously as the right, if not more so — the Democrats under Clinton, Labor under Blair, the French Socialists under Mitterand, former Communist parties in Eastern Europe, and so on. No surprise, then, that None of the Above has become so popular.)

ding ding ding! There's that 1-2 punch again! The left setting you up with the jab, the right comes in and knocks you out.

Getting big money out of politics is the only hope. Sure there are a few honest ones but they never get high enough up to have any real impact.

The dems are no more willing to get rid of that money than the repubs are.

There's only one way to take money out of politics. And that's to quit voting in that system. Voting outside of that system leads to a waste of their time and money. How do you get those that continue to support that system to leave it, and support a party that refuses to take that support system?

@William_Mary Im not ready to advocate not voting.

@Lucy_Fehr I didn't advocate for you to do that. There's this other party called the Green Party. They don't take money from corporations, PAC's, or the likes of off shoot groups that funnel money into PAC's. They operate on grass roots support.

@William_Mary Really? A green party? I wonder if there is yet another party as well? /s

With your overuse of the word system, it is reasonable to think you meant voting rather a different party.

I'm beginning to think that all politicians are basically the same. Just different agendas.... But all morally corrupt ...

@webspider555 yes, what a shame...

@LetzGetReal hmm.. I don't understand why politicians just don't agree to do what's right for the people instead making all these backroom deals... If people have better lives, the country gets better... Very simple, but they make it sooooo complicated...

@Cutiebeauty They take money from rich people who expect a return on their investment.

@Cutiebeauty the oligarchy will not allow a strong class of people to exists. Politicians are used to control the class statuses. The main stream media is essentially today's Jester to the historical kings messenger.

@William_Mary ohhhh ... That makes sense. I never thought of that.. Thanks ?
