@rogerbenham He didn't exactly lose. He got millions more votes than any former candidate in US history. Trumpism is as strong and popular as it has ever been. He still completely owns their party and will be kingmaker if not king himself for the 2024 election. He will likely form the most dominant media company ever, provided he doesn't manage to find a way to stay in the White House. And if nothing else, has managed to actually enrich himself unlike the previous 6 decades where he was such a useless pile of shit he couldn't even out perform a savings account.

@JeffMurray Had the Democrats chosen Sanders or Warren could either of them done as well as Biden? And if they had defeated Trump could they have been a powerful enough counter to Trump? Or more to the point is there anyone who can draw away Trumpers and tarnish his charm?

@rogerbenham I personally don't believe Sanders or Warren would have done as well as Biden. I also do not believe there is a "counter to Trump(ism)". If 4 years of him grabbing democracy by the pussy didn't make people realize, nothing will. The fact that he got way more votes this election (which I predicted and people told me I was crazy) proves no amount of facts or evidence will fix the problem we have now. It's also why I predict authoritarian rule and/or civil war in the next couple decades. The differences here aren't simply policy or methods to reach similar goals. One side simply doesn't give a fuck about democracy and will stop at nothing to obtain and maintain power, and any power they do get only makes it that much easier to get more. This is a guaranteed recipe for disaster.

@JeffMurray But when do Trump or similar voters realise that they will never get what they want from trump or similar? And the electorate as a whole realise that neither party is on their side?

@rogerbenham Do you really think the parties are equidistant away from delivering on their promises? I believe the Democrats actually do want to provide healthcare for everyone. I believe the ACA would have been way better and more comprehensive if the Republicans weren't fighting against them the whole time. Yet the party that touts their love for police and the military fought against the First Responders Bill tooth and nail. Shit like that makes it clear to me there is a good, not just better, option.

@JeffMurray I had to look the ACA up and decided you meant the Affordable Care Act. I think that as an outsider I see better speakers and nicer men in the Democrats, but I see a constant shift to the right in both parties and very little concern about the least able or certainly concern about black people. Both parties happily feed the wealthy and happily kill people around the world (except Jimmy Carter). We do have the same problem here in that the Conservatives and the Liberals are both gradually moving right and essentially say the same thing except again the Conservatives tend to be nastier people. Luckily we have left wing party that also gradually moves right but acts a little as a brake. Again no one cares about the most marginalised.

@rogerbenham As an outsider, don't believe everything you read in the American media. Most of our media is slanted right or left; an objective news story is hard to find. BOTH of our major parties are mainly interested in themselves, not their voters.

@rogerbenham True. There is a global shift to the right. Not sure why. But because of the shift the left has to drift with it for a shot at winning. It's why I said earlier I didn't think Warren or Sanders would have done as well. I believe they want to follow through on enacting their ideals, but you can't do anything without a seat at the table.
