People are basically lazy and look for tradition. They will take pills instead of practicing lifestyle changes. Right now more people are learning to cook at home so that might make some look to alternative food sources.
The manufacture of seitan, tofu, and especially "substitutes" is about as hard on the environment as meat. So while it Might be healthier (it is not for people like me who must avoid salt, for example), it is not some perfectly wonderful thing! Educate yourself....it is not "poking holes" if it is True, sorry......
One needn't go to 'substitutes'. Seitan is pure wheat gluten and many can't handle that and soy has also been problematic for some (myself included). One thing that plants don't do is create tons of poisonous waste especially if you go organic. I am going to post an item about the so called 'Green Revolution.' This has also become a major problem. Yes educate oneself but really try to be open and purely objective. I make a lot of things, like many varieties of burgers from beans. I start with dried and soak them overnight and then take a few day to get them to sprout. It's really not much work and makes things soo much easier and healthful.
It is a threat to the good order of society, donchano. Entitled white folks aren't going to let go of anything they see as superior or that they "need". Changing diets for the good of everyone is just too hard.
But not impossible. In today's world with the failing meat/dairy industry and increasing ads promoting less animal violence and more plant based food choices people are starting to come around.
