Part of my childhood was spent living in a foreign country and one house we lived in had a back garden with several mango trees growing in it. My siblings and I used to climb the trees and eat the mangos, sometimes just out of sheer boredom.
They were so common place that I got sick of them. I don't like the sticky fibrousness of mangoes either.
I think if we have something all the time, it loses its appeal. But I have a friend who loves them.

@Wildgreens I have mango in my smoothie every morning. Mmmmmmmm. I've made mango jam. My SO made me mango "ice cream" ( he's become the household expert on making vegan "ice cream" ) .
Nope, too sticky to feast upon more than one mango
