Thursday I went on our monthly Patos Island state park/lighthouse maintenance work party. We returned to Orcas Island and had a 2+ hour wait for the ferry. There is a good pizzeria that has gluten free, vegan versions and I picked up a brochure from the 'Factory Farms Awareness Coalition'. This is a new group to me but it has a lot to say and they seem committed to their mission: ”Empowering people to help save animals, the environment, and our own health through our daily food choices.” [ffacoalition.org]

That sounds like a great day out. The lighthouse sounds intriguing.
Thank you for this. I wanted to add a link to the group and found a picture I had not seen. My late partner is standing next to the woman in purple. [flickr.com]
We have totally renovated the lighthouse (built in 1893) inside and out. On the inside we have installed a plethora of interpretive pictures/information. There are 2 islands Patos and little Patos (one can see them from the film. It is also a state park and there are 7 campsites. We get thousands of visitors a year. A short video might give you an idea of this (my back yard) part of our country (Lopez is shaped a little like England).
I watched the whole of the video and looked at the photo of your late partner.
This had an emotional effect on me. I don't know why... But the scenery is so beautiful. Too perfect even. The light house is a pin up. Too perfect as well. The whole thing feels like a cinematic dream - the way life should be. Ideally.
The single seal in the water, not a care in the world, sticks in my mind. Thank you for the video and the photo
@Ellatynemouth You are welcome. BTW this island is the furthest NW corner of the contiguous US. It is next to the border of British Columbia, Canada. There is another lighthouse one can see directly opposite from Patos in Canada, Eastpoint Lighthouse. [lighthousefriends.com]
When I first chose to pursue a vegetarian diet people thought I was so weird. I am but its not because of my diet. On road trips there were no options & the wait staff would exclaim "but there won't be anything on it but beans!" Yep! We are growing so well. Pun intended.
