I consider that everyone is born with the innate abilities to be a scientist AND that we could improve all science and the uptake of science by actually calling everyone a scientists. Each person,I admit has had varying degrees of practice and confidence. Additionally everyone has had their science abilities suppressed from birth whilst we each reinvent and free our ourselves so that we practice real science. Science is not a body of knowledge, nor a group of people in white coats but a series of processes linked in a cyclical fashion. Once you have chosen one of these processes (e.g.ask a question) then the rest of the processes naturally follow on if the mind is free to practice what it was born with. Why do we always talk about the hard and intricate **knowledge **derived from science instead of giving each person the chance to follow the logic and methods of science to prove things for themselves.?

My view is that we should praise leavers for starting the process (OR getting it out of our hair )and then treat the 2016 referendum as PART of the full and proper process IMO as decribed below i.e. use the chance to be educated whilst we are in the crisis or we will have countless other chaos referenda whilst we are putting Mr Cameron on trial for leading us on his path. No democratic referendum should be without at least these important phases .

As a comparative test there are literally millions of people across the world who will have used all of these these process when they have been on strike. Not all strikes fulfil this ideal above however but when they do follow the above millions of people have been satisfied by these processes .

I completely reject this analysis. To my mind, they were never apart. To explain … First scientists and first religionists used the same processes of observation, planning, prediction, conclusions BUT the differences are that religionists had the wrong theories and imposed conclusions. They should have accepted that there may not be a conclusion [ agnosticism]. Because they made prediction that the ordinary man or woman cannot make they observed the power of seeming to know what everything was about and took on a privileged position alongside royalty and leadership. This power and privilege they are reluctant to loosen. Scientist who are also religionists have developed the habit early on of partitioning the brain to keep close to friends and relatives who have not developed this capacity–something the brain IS wired to do-e.g. split personalities etc

I try to 'blind' them with science - better expressed as 'enlighten' them but when I sense they have left my train of thoughts I back peddle as it can be counterproductive. However for me knowing what their science limits are helps me to be a better science explainer. I simply wanted to point out that there is a bad side to competition [which a few people picked up on]. Competition involves a lot of comparison between individual abilities and teams etc. However it rarely bothers to find out if one is comparing like with like so that wrong judgments can lead to disappointments. If you do not have the genes, strength, intelligence, persistence and connections of Usain Bolt you will never beat him unless you improve all your own attributes and more. Of course you can quickly find out where you are in these respects by run a quick dash with him, but I think it would be better to concentrate on your own attributes using science of course. Team competition involves you surrendering some of your own abilities to let stronger people come forward in a spirit of co-operation and is far more complicated. “ in good fun rather than serious competition.
