Are these people wailing and showing signs of derangement outside a New York courthouse displaying a perfectly normal response in expectation of a politician being found guilty by a jury…or is it a worrying sign of cult worship and mental disorder. I would call it Trump Derangement Syndrome, or TDS, but apparently that’s already been used to describe people who think Trump is the Devil….well I don’t think that, I just think he’s dangerous and divisive and bad for everyone’s wellbeing and sanity.
I have noticed, for the most part one can pick these people out in a line-up. Like the conspiracy theorists (some on agnostic) they all have the same, duh, look about them. They all seem to be like members of a cult looking for some savior to tell them how to think and act.
I feel very sad for them..
@Marionville I feel even sadder for their kids. It has been said this generation, called the Alpha generation, has very little future ahead of them and many are starting to see this.
It would be very wrong of me to accuse such people of being able to think.
In an otherwise mundane performance the throat singing cowboy duet was a rallying cry to all right thinking people.
The right to interfere in democratically elected government anywhere irrespective of which obsequious ostensibly putative puppet appears at the pulpit.
The sides have been selected for the next episode of a seemingly endless game of when push comes to shove.
It may be a forlorn hope that education will triumph eventually.
TDS was always pure projection, a nasty epithet having no meaning. The disgust people have for Trump is the proper, civilized reaction presented with a degenerate scumbag. The reaction of shock at the adoration of such a person by MAGA fake Americans can only be deflected with the TDS insult.
Well said!
It's cult worship, sad to say. Ironically, these are the same people who used to ridicule monks in saffron robes who handed out leaflets at the airport.
My call is fanatical cult worship (like catholics at easter) and mental disorder. If these idiots would read a balanced newspaper, balanced news coverage (radio or tv- don't matter), and just think about what he is saying and then fact check him-it just might open their eyes to the fraud and danger to this country and world that he is.
You're assuming they can read.
Within the tribe, it's not what you know or even what's true. It's how you feel. Like Voltaire said, those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.
@Flyingsaucesir Thought had crossed my mind.
You have TDS backwards. That applies to those who think Trump is the devil incarnate. So deranged they prefer one who enables genocide even. Any measure is acceptable to take Trump down for them.
For sure there is a cult of person following of Trump of who many believe he can do no wrong, somewhat deranged themselves. But that is not what TDS is.
[psychologytoday.com]
Well…that’s what I’m calling it…you can define it your way if you like. I don’t know anyone who thinks Trump is the devil…just extremely dangerous, and personally I think anyone who would prefer Trump in the White House again is as deranged as these obviously deranged people in New York.
Use common sense here. Screw phychologytoday.com. Trump Derangement Syndrome is displayed at its fullest in this video. It is not what non-Trumps have or do. it appears to be exactly what these deranged cult followers have. It also has nothing at all to do with Biden. My comment here is not displaying TDS. The actions of these people in the video is TDS. To prove me wrong produce a video of me doing similar stupid things and all because of Trump. OK, no video. Sorry.
@DenoPenno Thank you…you voice my thoughts on this subject exactly!
@Marionville I think that he is popular because the Biden admin has been truly atrocious and the majority of supporters just want the status quo to be broken.
Neither candidate deserves the keys to the White House imo. They both are full of shit. But regardless of what you or I think, Trump will win and make some serious changes. I would like him to tear up the Patriot Act, that would go a long way in healing America, but as he is somewhat psycho, who knows what he will do. That's why the powers that be are shit scared of him, hard to control/ predict what a psycho will do. They can't threaten to ruin his reputation anymore or defund him so no levers of control and they are in panic mode.
Regardless, Washington needs a mini tornado to rip through it to stop this constant war/ regime change crap, which has bipartisan support. Unfortunately, I think that tornado is called Trump.
It does not matter who gets in. $USD dominance is in rapid decline and BRICS is on the rise so whoever gets in, that will not change.
@Marionville I would refer to these people as cult followers, worshipping a personality. Their Messiah.
@puff Now I don't want to fall out with you but if you seriously believe that Trump will bring a polarised USA together then I’m afraid you are also falling victim to some form of delusion or derangement. The last thing America and the world needs at present is another 4 years of unpredictability and extreme volatility from a second round of Trump in the White House.
@puff That’s f…ing deranged..and a syndrome !
@Marionville I would add that don't assume all that support Trump show this level of adoration. If you want a classic case of TDS, Whoopie Golberg is pretty full on, tending to scream and carry on
So did we see anybody acting like this when Tricky Dicky went down?
Why/Why not????
And did you notice that back then even Republicans wanted Rule of Law not rending of garments? Blasphemy!!!!!
@Marionville I'm not saying that at all, I'm saying radical change is needed because the world has had a gutfull of US foreign bullshit. Radical change is needed and radical change means a transition period which will be painful. His presidency won't be unifying, it will be a wreaking ball but one that is needed imo. The US cannot continue as it is.
You say Trump is dangerous. I would say give me specifics eg exactly how will he be dangerous? I'm betting I could give examples where others have done exactly the same eg this trial he supposedly tried to influence the election by suppressing information; guilty as charged. But when you bring up the final debate in the 2020 election, where a major talking point of Biden was waving around a letter from 51 spooks dismissing Hunter Biden's laptop, you are dismissed as "whataboutism" and that sin of Biden is forgiven. That is TDS.
IMO lady justice should have an even hand and Biden is guilty of the same interference and should be charged the same.
The danger with Trump is potential danger. So tell me exactly how he is dangerous, preferably an example his opposition has not already done.
@Marionville Regardless of its true origin, the term "Trump Derangement Syndrome" only makes sense when applied to acolytes of the Trump cult, or politicians who pay lip service to its ridiculous precepts. People who see Trump for who or what he is (a power-hungry, sociopathic, malignant narcissist), are not in any sense deranged. They merely see through this pathetic con-man's schtick. And the people who don't, the ones afflicted with TDS? they are in line for a very rude awakening!
@puff The very unpredictable nature of Trump in the White House will be destabilising , but I’m not able to predict the future with details, I’m not Cassandra. However I do know that his nature is petty and vengeful and he will take a wrecking ball to the institutions of government such as the justice department and the rule of law. Destabilising the fabric of any society and casting doubt on the legitimacy of elections and the judiciary is very serious and dangerous for any country and sows the seeds of insurrection and anarchy…which we’ve already witnessed him engaging in in 2020. Should he win the next time around you can be sure the USA will be heading for civil war. Half the country love him and the other half hate him…what good can ever come from a house so divided against itself? A destabilised USA is bad for all of us wherever we live in the world and is not something to welcome as you seem to be doing.
@puff The desire to tear down our institutions (both public and private, without regard for the consequences), to rip up the Constitution, to burn it all down and wipe the slate clean, is a common sentiment found among the so-called "conservatives" who fill the ranks of the Trump cult. It's right up there with their knee-jerk xenophobia and irrational fear of immigrants. To them I say, be careful what you wish for. If ever Trump and/or his criminal cronies get back into power, you will not like the resultant third-world kleptocracy.
@puff Thank you. Well said. Yes, I too now believe he will win if only because his speeches are adored by many whilst Biden's are boring. Yes to some he is their Messiah. They probably do not really listen to him but he voices their fears and hatreds. They live on the edge of disaster. The middle class are falling. Homelessness is becoming chronic. Biden stating correctly that thestock market economy is doing amazingly well is true but ignores that that wealth is continually being siphoned off a huge percentage of people. The democtrats have ignored a huge part of their voters. The elites are grabbing everything for themselves. WTF are wars happening? Because elite get wealthier. The democrats make Washington money. Trump does not represent Repoublicans. He representshimself and he is angry with everyone. His followers like that.
I do not think that Trump is the solution but a wrecking ball to Wall Street would be wonderful. What is needed to offset cimate change is so enormous that a wrecking ball is needed. WallStreet cheats continually. In London the government was forced to save the Royal; Bank of Scotland because their malpractice was about to destroy the Bank of England. The problem is common all over the world Corruption, Greed and governments of people who do not have the qualifications and know fuck all about wshat they are governing, allowing lobbyists to provide so wrong directions.
@Flyingsaucesir @Marionville It's not a matter of wishing for ir, it's an admission that something needs to happen. What is so crazy is if the Hillary campaign and DNC did not shaft Bernie Sanders we would have never had Trump. If Clinton was not anointed as the candidate by the DNC power brokers we would have never had Trump. If the Democratic party actually lived up to their name and held primaries with debates for their nomination for the 2024 for election, Biden would have been rejected and there would be no chance of Trump being re-elected if some like RFK Jr ran for them. With a last name of Kennedy, Biden even refused his request for a protection detail.
American democracy is a joke and Trump gets all the blame with zero reflection of their own flaws from the opposition.
Civil war is definitely on the cards and yes that will be very destabilising for the world. One positive is foreign intervention by that nation will be a thing of the past. The next few years are going to be painful for all, the world is changing very quickly. We can only hope a phoenix will rise from the ashes.
BTW I am always very pessimistic in my thinking, always think of worse case scenario. This makes me happy because the worse case scenario hardly ever happens and if it does, I am mentally prepared for it.
If Trump gets in, it won't be as bad as people think. Remember the first time? He was going to start wars, weaponise the justice system to get rid of his political opponents, ruin US standing, make Russia stronger. Well, fuck me. Have a gander at Biden and the Democrats.
@puff Sure, something needs to happen. But burning it all down is NOT the thing.
We have the means to make the necessary improvements at our fingertips. Limit the pardon power of governors and presidents; jail bankers and other financial masters of the universe when they abuse their power; overturn the Citizens United decision; outlaw gerrymandering; increase the penalties for public corruption; reform the tax code; protect the environment; stick to the Constitution and amend it where necessary; expand the Supreme Court (their are 13 federal judicial circuits but only 9 justices); improve public education instead of gutting it;...the list goes on, but there are no unsolvable problems on it.
And there is no reason to think that after tearing the country apart we could build something as good, nevermind better, in its place.
@Flyingsaucesir I think most of what you said is lipstick, the main issue is fix the Constitution eg abide by and honour it. This means discarding the Patriot Act and things like the recent FISA laws. I think many of the other things things you mentioned would then fix themselves.
@puff "...fix the Constitution eg abide by and honour it."
Much better than civil war.
@Flyingsaucesir Most definitely.
@puff I’ve had a nights sleep and don’t intend to continue this endless conversation with you into a new day. There is no point in further debate as our opinions are polar opposites. It baffles me how you can have such disdain even contempt for Biden and not show any at all for the degenerate felon Trump! Let’s just let it go as neither of us can accurately predict the future and even if we could, we don’t have the power to either affect or change it.
@Marionville No worries. Oh I have disdain for Trump alright but there is enough here already so there is no need to join that bandwagon. I'm used to being misunderstood eg anti NATO must be pro-Russian. Anti medical mandates must be anti-vax. Anti Russiagate must be a Putin puppet etc
I can't help myself when I see hypocrisy, I comment is all. Plus I do like playing devil's advocate, just to try to get discussions going.
TDS: adjective pronunced “tedious”; noun pronounced “tedium”.
If only it was merely tedious!
