I'm not sure what this is, perhaps the pelvis of a cat, small dog or deer faun, goat, we don't have any other large enough fauna? found in my garden today. It's like a face, or face and arms at several angles.

Today I moved some old rotted short logs that stood on end, and found many of these enormous grubs, about the size of thumb. I suspect them to be some stage in the life of the large death's head (delta-shape) moths we get here but I don't really ...

The amazing Tailorbird, (and if your mother was a seamstress and tidy-minded it will all look very familiar.)

A shoddy picture of my new bioactive terrarium. It is currently home to tropical isopods, dwarf earthworms and springtails. Eventually garter snakes will join the gang!

We just got a litter robot and so far it is great. It came put together and all we had to do was check to make sure everything was as the booklet that came with it said to do. It takes up some area but not more than what we were using before. Will ...

I'll probably be posting quite a bit, as I discover new critters everyday! I found this Antheraea polyphemus (polyphemus moth) in sad shape. I don't know much about their lifespan, but it seemed to be nearing the end of it. Still, it's beautiful!

Three beautiful snakes from this weekend's fishing trip. A big Nerodia watersnake that I moved off the road. A gartersnake that was startled along the creek. A neonate Nerodia that was hunting minnows underwater.

A cute grey treefrog (Hyla versicolor) that I found in my birch tree, this afternoon. His camouflage was great and I only discovered him when I heard him calling.

This is my girl Space Ghost (I thought she was a male when I named her). She's a captive bred hypomelanistic bullsnake and I've had her for 14yrs. She can be a real crab at times, but I'm fond of her.

My first Monarch since moving here! I started a butterfly garden two years ago, specifically targeting monarchs and swallowtails. Got this lone caterpillar on native swamp milkweed that I’ve fought hard to keep going (is a tremendous aphid magnet).
