Just the other afternoon - I went to collect an egg from one of my girls - and this yellow rat had beaten me to it ! It was a beauty, and large - over 5ft. Guess the hens are helping this one get larger still !

Australian huntsman spider. they are rather timid, with an erratic way of retreat if frightened, which then freaks people out. this one used to live behind one of my paintings. including legs he is roughly 10cm (4 inch) in diameter or a big palm ...

A few of my last A. dubernardi larvae. Most of my other caterpillars have pupated already. These are some of the second hatch, almost fully grown now. These guys are so neat to observe. I just can't get enough of their feeding behaviors.

@nothinnXpreVails here are a couple of insects that made me think of one of your earlier posts. Both of these are heavily infested with parasitic mites. They were obvious all the time on the cranefly, but with the beetle they were barely noticeable...

My little rescue butterfly went to the big flower in the sky on Wednesday. I had contacted a butterfly expert, and he said that species usually only lives two weeks, maybe three in captivity. This guy lived 3 weeks and 2 days! And who knows how long ...
