Strange how dogs tend to love snow "playgrounds".
Our first cat, discovered snow after being locked inside for most of the fall, 12 inches. She made it about 2 feet outside the door before bounding back inside for the rest of the winter. We had the same snow on the ground from Thanksgiving until after Easter.
I had several inches of snow on my deck, and I opened the door and let the kitties go out. They got about a foot away from the door, and turned around and scurried back in. Now in the middle of summer I can leave the door open and they won't go out.
Aw, his toes got cold.
Somebody let that poor cold kitty inside..
Our cats are like that. They want to go out, but won't spend much time outside if there is snow on the ground.
Many years ago, I had a neighbor cat across the street, that was so cute and friendly, but not the smartest cat around. He would constantly want to go outside in the winter, even every half hour or so, on the sunny days, no matter how cold outside. Drove his owner batty by always meowing to get let outside over and over, because in his mind, if it was sunny outside, he thought it had to be warm, etc.. Never caught on to the idea of sunny skies and cold temps outside,. So after being outside a few minutes, he would want to come back inside. Not a good learner, so the cycle would be repeated all day. Many the time I would let him into our garage so his owner would get a break. We were afraid she would leave him outside overnight sometime and let him die as a catsicle..
Not snow cats then.

Posted by LaurenI thought this was an accurate representation of how we feel every time we remember our last cat, which happens often when my daughter and I laugh over our current cat's antics.
