Went to the Humane Society to retrieve Rocky's ashes. We miss him, tthe last of a family we have kept for over eighteen years. While there we found another lovely creature who adopted us. Our first grey. Will get a picture as soon as we can find her, exploring the home, she will come out when she gets hungry and heard the food prep.
Maddy came out and let me pick her up. She is a great cat and every one is getting along great. And yes I have to lose some weight, did not realize how big I look.
Thanks for all your support. I think I have a cat to find. Good thing I live in a small place. Have lots of helpers.
Ashley's ashes are due back at the vet's office on Tuesday. I still have 4 cats, so I'm stolidly ignoring all the "free kittens" posts in my area.
Sorry for your loss. Kate had a buddy when I met her, the one that liked spaghetti. She passed due to health problems after about fourteen years, she said she would never have another cat because the pain is to great. Yes it is painful, but after one month we went to the Humane Society and were adopted by three cats. China, Phoebe, and Sophie. They lived long. Along the way Kate picked up a feral cat that came to our driveway. 62 days later she brought forth 4, 3 of which grew and grew and grew. Chutney was so small and her children were growing and growing. We thought something was wrong until one day Kate was looking on the internet and found another cat that looked just like Rocky. We had three Maine Coons. The nicest most laid back buddies there could be. That was 18 years ago. Eventually I told Kate, jokingly, that we could have no more than nine kids. I needed to be in the top ten somewhere, did not matter where, but no more than ten. I think at one time we had twelve, but I have a problem counting so everything was ok. Great to have such a history with the kids. Kate and I have no children, humans that is. Probably a good thing as we live in a 800 square foot apt. We live in the basement of a three story house, we rent out the top. Helps with the Bill's, could not live here without the help. Astoria is a destination and housing is expensive.
@dalefvictor, I'm in a 1-bedroom apartment. Fortunately, 3/4 cats are great friends.
@TaraMarshall how do you have three quarters of a cat? I hope you realize I know you mean 3 or 4.
@dalefvictor, 3 out of 4 cats are friends. Unfortunately, Mischa bullies other boys, and Emily is an aggressively social dog wannabe. So poor Hathir, who has PTSD from years of being beaten up on the streets because of his hyperthyroidism, is still scared.
@TaraMarshall that is good odds. I guess we are lucky in that it seems they find us.
You're a good "hooman" to give another deserving creature a forever home.
