How does one really let go? A picture on my Twitter feed today, which I understand is national cat day, from Joe at MSNBC was a ringer for my departed companion, Zeus. It's been nearly three years, but seeing that picture stings like it was only yesterday. I am just not sure if the pain will ever go away. Maybe that is a good thing, I don't know. They say the amount of hurt is comparable to the amount of love, but that really does not ease things. Here is Zeus in his prime, sitting on a pot with another pot. I miss this little guy.
So sorry for your loss, our fur babies lives are too short ?
This is one beautiful creature. I am sorry for your loss. It does seem that the more they were loved the more it hurts, I guess it goes with the experience.
I miss all my babies, and I remember how they enriched my life.
The most painful picture, just days before he passed. He had lost an eye a few years earlier to cancer, then a year of kidney failure and a couple of weeks of fluid buildup around his heart. Heartbreaking.
Me and Zeus. John is my brother. ?
It never goes away completely.
A year after our 17 year old "Bob the Cat" died, we finally were psychologically able to go to a SISCA rescue center and have two "brothers" adopt us. Bob would want us to do that.
It is difficult for me as well, when I lose a pet. They are family.
Being a human it is difficult to outlive almost all of our loved pet companions. I've lost many and can still remember almost each and every one of them. Some more than others, are very painful probably because they bonded more with you or were more unique and stand out. If I had to pick one it would be Ricky. (There, a tear came to my eye).

Posted by LaurenI thought this was an accurate representation of how we feel every time we remember our last cat, which happens often when my daughter and I laugh over our current cat's antics.
