He's a rescue but he seems like a Nebulung. If you Google gray cats that's what pops and he looks exactly like the examples.
@Fearlessfreep Someone suggested my fluffy black cat might be a Nebulung. I suspect (due to my area) that he's part Maine Coon.
I had a friend who traveled to Canada to get a cat with the traits your's has. He's got a Wedgie.
All are known to be a bit "doglike". 
I bet that shirt bugs your opponents!

T-shirt Hell if you're interested. Their shirts are hilarious and known for going after sacred cows and just generally being fucking wrong.
