I used to leave my two carriers out and open... I'd toss treats in there, or sprinkle catnip. I was told this would help them get used to their carriers, and they would willingly go in. Ha!
When I brought The Younger Cat home (she was still a kitten) from her vet the second time, it was one of those cardboard carriers. She was so furious to have been constrained that she clawed and chewed her way through it. After that, I bought the hard plastic shell carriers I have now.
I've found that I have to put the carrier on end, open side up, & put them in rear legs first, all the while staring in their beady little eyes to distract them!!! I'm usually successful & usually unscathed!
Yeah, it needs to show the cat with all 4 limbs outstretched and a scratched up human trying to shove the cat in the carrier.
