Just south of where I live in Philly is the Germantown neighborhood, parts of which are afflicted with high levels of poverty. A new micro-brewery opened late last year just in time to meet the pandemic, but they are hanging in there. I know the owners, who are wonderfully and fully involved in the community.
For their latest fund raiser (not for them, for other groups) they are offering drag queen delivery. The money supports the Morris Home in Philly, which supports the transgender community. They do great work.
Hey, if you have friends in Philly, let them know. The beer is awesome.
Sooo, that begs the question, why drag queens?..what they're doing is awesome for my community, but why not Transwomen or Transmen?
I don't know, I'd have to ask them. Send an email, to Laura's attention. She, along with her husband Todd, is one of the owners and co-founders.
Let us know what she says.
Note: They do fundraisers for many groups. Early on in the pandemic, they allowed their taproom to be used as an assembly area for a meals program that serves poor kids and families in the neighborhood. They are good people who help as much as they can.
What fun for someone's birthday or a bar mitzvah! (This would get me in lots of trouble!)
