Won’t campaign finance laws written by legislators always favor legislators?
After the California legislature twice weakened reforms placed on the ballot vis voter signatures ( direct initiative ), the voters took revenge by limiting the terms of legislators.
The legislature ( 2/3 Democratic ) next started enacting laws in evening / night sessions when reporters were at home. The voters took revenge by requiring the legislarure to publish all proposed laws on the internet for 72 hours ( 3 days ) before final votes.
The lesson being that voters cannot trust legislators.
