That is why in Europe, esp. in England, free college based on merit, rather than being able to afford it, and the rich have always hated it. And even in that merit system, the rich kids still get into the best colleges, thru their connections and thru sending their kids to the best prep schools, so they have maximum chances of doing well on the merit exams all kids take to get into the universities. So even then, there is little social mobility from the lower classes moving up to the higher classes thru education, as the better paying jobs still go to the richer kids thru their parents connections, same as here..
