What we need, is for the public to first understand how our soveriegn FIAT monetary system actually works and how both political parties, the media and their benefactors, practice deception to keep us from utilizing it for our benefit.

The 1990's experiment with the Left in the UK and USA moving to the right is over and was an obvious failure for ordinary people.

In the UK, I reckon there will be lessons learned and I do think Corbyn has a decent chance at getting his party over the line and into no 10.

Obvious failure? Yes! Over? I Don't see that yet, at least in the U.S. Democracy is still broken. ?

Pure capitalism is a game of monopoly. Wealth is consolidated, and the rest of us are reduced to being serfs.
Pure socialism is flawed in an entirely different way: there is a lack of selfish motivation (i.e. reward) for either innovations industriousness.
Good thing neither of these can ever exist for long in pure, idealized form. Every society in reality combines the two, just by dramatically varied measure. Right now. The U.S. is going off the robber barons deep end and desperately needs correction.

With that being said however , that sort of socialism , as typified by the Soviet Union , was more aptly state capitalism , I think .

@Marmion that brings us back to the question of what pure socialism would even look like if it were possible.

@MikeInBatonRouge Or for that matter , what would pure free market capitalism , apart from state sponsored crony capitalism be like ? Advocates of the free market , such as right- libertarians will respond with such a type of no true Scotsman , whenever capitalism is criticized .

The entire notion that we can continue to ‘grow the economy’ under any system is deluded. We are already burning through resources at a far from sustainable pace. Coupled with climate change, and continued business as usual will end us all.

Afraid that's true... But there will come a time... when the average worker won't be able to afford "goods and services" they way they have been. When that time comes, industries are going to suffer. If it gets really bad, we are at risk of revolt...

Q. What about the workers?
A. What about the workers?
