Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.I agree that we need to vote as non-believers to preserve our rights. I don't think all of the new "nones" are non-believers. The nones are growing much faster than the atheist/agnostic crowd. Many of them put themselves in the nebulous "spiritual but not religious" category. Can someone explain that to me?

In order to quantify the numbers, Pew and others use established world religions as their base. If a person does not identify with an established religion (SBC, Catholic, Jewish, etc.), then they are classified as "None." If a person classifies themselves as an agnostic or atheist, depending on the wording of the question, they too are considered a "none."
