The US seems addicted to sanctions as a tool of foreign policy. This has increased with Trump plus a trade war to boot; tarrifs and protectionism.
Now this is all fun and games but my question is this,
When the $USD is no longer the default world currency and countries trade using alternative payment (going this way now), then what foreign policy tool will the US apply?
I think it will be forced to use diplomacy where much trust has been lost through the breaking of agreements. Your thoughts?
It seems as if our reliance on diplomacy fell apart with the Soviet Union. Since then, we seem to think we can get our way by force in all situations. If anything, Russia now is as nasty as the USSR was. We're just no longer a beacon of hope.
Too thinky for me... I'm not well versed in economics ....
@powder OK... That makes sense .
