Medicare for All: [counterpunch.org]
I amazes and dismays me that we even have to argue that tax based universal coverage is possible. It is obvious and the only answer to runaway health inflation. Aside from higher service fees in the U.S., greater litigiousness, and few price controls on pharmaceudicals, and the expense of multiple variations in administrative systems that drive up inefficiencies, realize that health insurance companies are also stock-traded entities, whose core mission is to maximize profits for their shareholders. There goes the money!
We can certainly do better. The rest of the developed world already figured this out. The reason the U.S. hasn't has less to do with knowledge and more to do with cultural priorities that value wealth opportunities for entrapraneurs and corporations over meeting the basic needs of vulnerable people. It is shameful.
