Just joining this group looking to broaden my ideals of discussion.
From the description listed for this group: " Take skepticism to the next level. Question our political and economic orthodoxy! Capitalism has become more doctrinaire and destructive than religion."
A little back ground:
My point of view is from being former Christian like a lot of people here on agnostic. I find as a part of the reason I left christianity is because I did some deep studying and research and discovered information that is not ever preached in churches that I am aware of.
What I observe:
I have reason enough to think I know biblical text well enough that I understand how to use it against christianity. However, since leaving christianity and finding those basically calling themselves atheist of a "hardcore" type, I have listened or observed some of their rhetoric that is not much more than word salad, especially if they are using it to try to defend their atheism or to convince a Christian to leave christianity.
As I quoted from this group description I would be curious about discussion (not debating anything) but comments, thoughts for discussion as I point out this observation I make.
This observation of group description "Capitalism has become more doctrinaire and destructive than religion".
But, I ask this for your thoughts of something take from what is often called religious text: I have changed some of the riddle and metaphor text to make it sound more plain and understandable.
All people were forced to ...[have personal identification] Whether they were powerful or weak, rich or poor, free people or slaves, they all had to have ... [personal identification] ..., or else they could not buy or sell anything. This... [personal identification] ...stood for the name of the ...[laws of government] ...and for the number of its name. Revelations 13:16-17
I am just pointing our my observation of the connection I see between "religious text" and modern day requiring of identification in a capitalism country.
Capitalism has become more doctrinaire and destructive than religion is what this "progressive and socialist " group description states.
I point out religion is as stated above, but paraphrase here: religion is about requiring personal identification for buying and selling (isn't capitalism all about buying and selling).
Discussion about religion controlling capitalism.
