Passels of Amish shop in my local Aldi (another religious group that keeps to themselves, wears weird outfits and believe that they only need to have barely an 8th grade education.). The women and children all have the deer in headlights looks on their faces and the hostage vibe and you know it’s because they are kept fearful, stupid and docile with little education beyond indoctrination.

Someone should sue the State of New York for same issues as Quebec.

Sounds about right - had some ex Mormons as students and their "home schooling" in Utah sounded awful. They had the luck of having an "educated" father who finally yanked them, taught them himself for a while, quit the church, and moved back East (where his rich grandfather, a non Mormon welcomed him back into the fold of corporate greed over religious greed).
