For Torajans, the death of the body isnβt the abrupt, final, severing event of the West. Instead, death is just one step in a long, gradually unfolding process.
(You may find the photos and the video disturbing...)
The Torajans are showing (the NG photographers, at least) that they don't believe, nor follow, nor accept science...which, to me....makes them no better than the #religulous of our world. I just feel sorry for their ignorance. Richard Dawkins speaks far greater, science-based, wisdom.
@Jetty You're taking offense for something I never said.
I never used the word "ignorant" - you did.
Read it again. You're being unnecessarily defensive...perhaps you're still religious?
@Jetty Point taken; I guess I do consider any group that gives unscientific myths any weight as ignorant.
but as I said; that's my opinion. You can disagree all you like. But you're wrong about the Japanese.
If you research the Japanese you'll discover that they have the highest level of agnosticism of any advanced/industrial nation;
So, no...I don't consider the Japanese ignorant.
I like the concept, possibly not all parts of the practice. Could only read a small part of the article before National Geographic locked me out with a demand for payment.
