I like to repair and restore vintage stereo gear. This is a Sansui 5050 I just finished. New walnut veneer on the case and minor repairs inside. Sounds great.

I've got the same unit in my shop . I have problems tuning in my NPR News and Ideas .

What kind of antenna are you using?

I've had good luck with an old set of "TV Rabbit Ears". Depending on how far away you are from the radio tower, you may need a roof mounted antenna of some sort.

@Boxdoc I have a dipole antenna which used to work good but they switched the frequency of that station . It has a sub station transmitter about 30 miles away . In my other shop one mile from my home shop I can pick it up fine .

@Besalbub If the other inputs ie: Tape, Aux work well, you may need to have the unit looked. Sansui's are famous for poor quality electrolytic capacitors. It also may just need a realignment.

@Boxdoc Realignment of what ?

@Besalbub The FM tuner. Your tech will know what it needs.
