It's the most challenging time... of the year
Time to come up with new creative evasive techniques and excuses for why I can't possibly attend whatever festivity I'm invited to.
Do you grit your teeth and go? Or cop out and stay home with Netflix
It's easy for me. I don't get invitations.
I like my friends. I want them to invite me. I just don't want to go.
It is usually easier to think up excuses than to remember what you told to whom!
Ever forget what excuse you used? I did. That was embarrassing. "A wedding? I thought you said you had to go to a funeral" Although... when I think about it, they're not so different.
December 26th....the Happiest Day of the Year
Actually for me it's January 2. We still have to get thru the craziness of the NYE celebrations
I always have another ''date''. (That'd be staying home in my jammies and enjoying a day of books and movies on the tube.) Theory--you're not the only one who ''hears'' that melody! For me, though, the lyrics are "It's the most repugnant time of the yearrrrrr"
It's a celebration of excess, greed, merchandising and I'm always looking forward to NEW YEAR'S DAY! (YAY! Anyone want champagne?)

Having to work helps with that problem....
Rignor, years ago I was a telephone operator (this was just after we stopped using drums and smoke signals ) I always volunteered to work on these holidays because (a) as a single parent, I knew how difficult it was to find a ''sitter'' on them and it was ''bankable'' for future times when I needed an emergency ''swap'' for myself.
