When I'm stuck in an elevator or in the check out line with an extravert who wants to make small talk, I'll just whip out my phone and hold it to my ear like I'm checking messages
I actually have no problem chatting with people in elevators or in the line at the grocery store. It's social situations that freak me out. the ones where you have to stay for a predetermined period of time and try to talk to people. An elevator ride is brief... a moment or two at most, but a party....................................................................................
@TheoryNumber3 I'm with you. I can handle small talk in elevators and grocery lines most of the time. I do struggle at bus stops though - I see the same handful of people every morning, yet i never know what to say to them, or if i should say anything, and I second guess myself when I do. Smart phones and books come in really handy in those situations!
