"A weed is a plant that has grown in the wrong place" - so someone said. I can't remember who.
besides- all plants were "weeds" or wild...people have always eaten the greens of the dandelion and still do. The plants in rows are in the gardens and crop fields made by humans, which has no greater chance of survival than the plants untouched by humans (where humans do not dwell). so to reword that Doug Larson quote may be: that the weed masters the skill of survival, due to not growing in rows. Crops are grown to be eaten, therefore is not the lacking survival skill of those of us who feel we can be viewed as weeds.
Yeah, I'm a weed. I never really conformed with the rows.
