I had been inspired by @Heidi68 to treat myself to an orchid and happy to say it loved its spot and is flourishing. Had a mishap several weeks ago, it fell off the countertop during watering process and 4 flowers broke off, two from each of the stalks ... but here is the wonderful thing that happened next ... it set a tiny bud at growth tip of each stalk! these slowly swelled and in the past few days both opened! the vibrant color of the new blooms show how much the earlier ones had faded.
I have broken 2 flower stems this year and both have continued to grow & flower! I was amazed when the 1st one did it but thought it was a fluke until the second one started growing - can't wait for it to bloom.
This is what it looks like. You can see the new shoot forming on the side/coming around the side.
